Message:
We believe in God the Father Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth;
And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord:
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, dead, and buried;
on the third day He rose from the dead;
He ascended into heaven,
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from there He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
We believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic [universal] church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
- Apostles' Creed
(United Methodist Church Version)

Living out the Apostle’s Creed, as United Methodist’s we believe our purpose is: “to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.”

The Preamble of our United Methodist Constitution, as found in THE BOOK OF DISCIPLINE OF the United Methodist Church 2008 states:

“The church is a community of all true believers under the Lordship of Christ. It is the redeemed and redeeming fellowship in which the Word of God is preached by persons divinely called, and the sacraments are duly administered according to Christ’s own appointment. Under the discipline of the Holy Spirit the church seeks to provide for the maintenance of worship, the edification of believers, and the redemption of the world.”

In his book entitled “Three Simple Rules”, Bishop Rueben P. Job has shared that a Wesleyan Way of Living is comprised of three rules:

  1. Do No Harm
  2. Do Good
  3. Stay in Love With God

He writes that “Prayer” is at the center of a transformed life.

Our particular DePauw Memorial United Methodist Church congregation leadership has been challenged by Bishop Robert Schnase’s book to emphasize the FIVE PRACTICES OF FRUITFUL CONGREGATIONS:

Radical hospitality

Passionate Worship

Intentional Faith Development

Risk-taking mission and service

Extravagant generosity

Our vision is “Loving God, Loving Others”

Our DePauw MISSION is:
to love all people
as we love Christ,
and follow His footsteps
in everyday life!

The Pastor and church leaders are available for in-depth study of our beliefs, both individually and in Membership Classes, including Confirmation! We intend to help in the development of vibrant disciples of Jesus Christ! We baptize and teach and evangelize!
